Rumours on Google Nexus Two

Salam.

Google Nexus Two will be announced on the 8th of November, the same date as Windows Phone 7 sales.

Unlike last time, Samsung is the one holding the Nexus Two. Rumour has it that it will be running Android 3.0 Gingerbread out-of-the-box. If you think you Samsung Galaxy S i9000 is great, be assured that Nexus Two will be one step ahead.

Samsung will also provide full Android experience without the Galaxy S skin.

Let's hope we can get a glimpse of the phone before the 8th. Maybe the specs will be on par with a netbook. Who knows.

That's all for now. Thanks for reading.

MSI N480GTX Lightning - World Fastest GPU

Salam.

The best GPU in the world? Maybe. But with the specs enough to kill a normal computer, I guess its believable.

Introducing MSI N480GTX Lightning from MSI. And here are the features.

Key features
- 750 MHz Core and 1536MB GDDR5 4000MHz Memory
- High performance Power4 Architecture (16 Phase PWM on GTX 480, independant Memory Power, Copper MOS with 2x high current capacity, Proadlizer x4 to optimied power supply)

Tips to Update Phone Firmware

Salam.

Hello people. Have you ever update your phone software? Some that are using smartphones must know what I'm talking about. Updating your firmware is like updating your current Microsoft Windows to a new version. But obviously firmware update only take place on your phone.

However, some precautions have to be made. To make sure you didn't lose out while updating.

Backup your contact
The first one on the list. Why? Because you don't want to fill another thousand of contact in your phones over and over again. Some smartphones offer a software that allows you to backup all of your data. Make sure you do it first.

Battery
Charge you battery until full or at least 90%. This is because firmware update takes up lots of battery.

Remove SIM and Memory Card
People often neglect this. But when your phone brick, it's your fault.

Be sure of the update
If you are not sure, don't do it. I've seen countless people getting the wrong update and brick their phone. Check occasionally on your phone's website and do some research of the update.

That's all for now. Be careful while updating. And always remember, whenever you install an application, make sure its in your memory card. Because some firmware updates 'clean' you application. Beware.

The Worst Smartphone Award

Salam.

We're back and this time is for the Worst Smartphone Award.

Its not Apple iPhone 4 or Samsung Omnia 7 has been in the nominees for several months but they didn't have the chance to win. Even a bit.

And the award goes to the NOKIA N8!

Congratulation you mudder-effer Finnish phonemaker! Your on going effort to make the worst smartphone on earth is undeniably great.

The judge are one of the N8 is a user who made a blog on how much the N8 fails. You can check it out here.

The points that made it a winner is the video recording. The 12 megapixel camera that does HD recording but doesn't offer playback on the device. Isn't it great? Of course its great because there has never been a phone that cannot play its own recorded videos on itself. That's the greatest invention of all!

I hope the Finnish are happy with the award.

We'll see you again next time. Thanks for reading.

World Most Stupid Submarine Award

Salam.

Today we are going to present an award of The World Most Stupid Submarine EVAR. From all the nominees and the judges believe they have found the winner.

Its not a submarine which a country bought and cannot submerge into the ocean (you'll know which country) but the Nuclear Submarine HMS Astute from Great Britain.

The £1.2b nuclear submarine stuck in the mud off the Isle of Skye when the sub are trying to take the crew abroad.

That is one silly mistake by the commander but that's what made it won the award. I believe the owner can't make it here today to give a speech so we'll end the award here.

Until next time. Thanks for reading.

Quad-Sim Phone

Salam.

Our friends use Orange. Our family members use Vodafone. Our lecturers use T-Mobile. Our long-lost-childhood friends use 3. Guess how many phones do you need? 4? No. You just need 1.

OTECH F1 phone which looks like a Blackberry has support for 4 sim and all are activated at once.

It has QWERTY keypad the same as Blackberry, OS which is too hard to tell a difference between it and a Blackberry, built-in TV receivera, GPRS, touchscreen (wow) and 12 megapixel camera. Imagine if it has 3G. It will be super fast.

I guess it's just another phone from China though. They love making stuff like this as they are good in copying stuff. And wait. That's not all. Imagine the radiation level for this phone. Maybe enough to make 12 cups of coffee or defrost a whole chicken.

Transparent X-Ray Phone

Salam.

Transparent Phone? Such crazy gadget only originates from Mars! Not anymore. Japan has their transparent flip phones which is way too cool for users to have.

It's made from red polycarbonate with glass fibre and it lets you see the guts of your phones.
Seriously awesome. The LED outside will inform you regarding calls, messages or Facebook updates (I hope).

The trend of flip phones in Japan really pissed me off. Luckily there's iPhone 4 there to change the culture.

No more Symbian for Nokia?

Salam.

The best camera on the phone with the worst OS. What else could it be? The Nokia N8. With the largest image sensor for better photography experience, it is still dating Symbian. What's wrong going for Android you Finnish phonemaker??

Symbian is basically a dead OS for phones right now where people hardly gets update and pays attention to it. Now Nokia just realised their mistakes which they should have a year ago.

Nokia's CEO mentioned they will not be talking about symbian anymore but how can we be sure? Let's just hope its not just talk.

Imagine Nokia phones that we love several years ago are using Android 2.2 Froyo. Isn't it amazing? They should throw in some 1Ghz CPU to it and several GB of RAM to make it better.

Considerations in Selecting Literary Text

Salam.

Yes. This might sound academic but who am I without academic? For todays short lecture, it will be about selecting literary text for students.

Background of students
Choose literary text which is related to the students. As an example, Malaysian students better at visualising paddy fields, terrace house and a Proton Wira. You shouldn't jump into the classroom giving them literature about oak trees or Mahatma Gandhi. I didn't say its not appropriate but let the students get some language first okay? Get something local such as 'Mousedeer and crocodile'. Its epic and the students love it.

Student's Stage of development
A very useful one I suppose. Without proper checking, students may be bored with your lesson. Yeah. Get it right. This will help teachers make selection of proper text and preparing suitable activities for the children.

Their Interest
Children these days love Incredible Hulk than Snow White. Why? Because they're on the screen! Kids mentality towards literature has change over these years and as teachers, we need to adapt to it. There are short stories with Rapunzel as the heroine. Why don't you go for it?

Content of the Text
Superman is not suitable. Why? Because it will raise questions. Get something simple and believable. The Hungry Caterpillar and Giant Potato can be good.

Language
You are not teaching Shakespeare to the students. Simple language are good enough. Its useful to expose them to the language. If they find the language is too hard, then you're not a good teacher. I'm just saying.

That is some part of it. There maybe more but I will address the general one in my post this time. This is because I'm too lazy. Even my dissertation are moving like snails. Maybe snails are faster.

That's it for now. Thanks for reading. Not to forget Chitravelu, Sithamparam and Teh Soo Choon for writing such a great book about ELT Methodology. The way I explain might be harsh but understanding is everything. Their book is awesome you guys should check it out. Until next time.

HD Camcorder

Salam.

This time is not about smartphones anymore. Its about camcorder. For anyone so dumb they can't understand this you better shut up you bitchy mouth and read.

A camcorder is a device that enable you to record videos into a medium such as hard drive, CD, DVD or tape. Currently, camcorder are losing popularity due to DSLR having the function to record videos as well. Not just any videos but HD videos. But it doesn't mean that camcorder doesn't do anything. Besides HD recording, the quality of videos on the camcorder is better than those DSLR.

With a camcorder, you may have all the manual control you want on it. But basic camcorders won't have that. I guess manual controls are on the mid-end or high-end camcorders.

Camcorders is better at videos and lack at pictures. Seriously. But camcorders have a sensor that can withstand long-term recording. Which is something that DSLR doesn't have. Even if the DSLR can record videos, the sensor they are using are not very good at videos as it can easily break when it is used on a long-term recording. Even if their sensor is big or high quality, once it breaks, there goes another few hundred pounds out of your pocket. Camcorder's sensor are design specifically to withstand long-term use. It can withstand the heat from processing pictures and able to absorb light continuously with adjustable settings.

But I have to admit, pictures taken from a camcorder is very dissapointing. The noise level, colours and everything is not right. I rate the pictures taken from a camcorder as acceptable as it does gives a good aperture setting (1.8).

If you are thinking about getting a camcorder, don't hesitate to get the one that gives you HD (1280x720) or Full HD (1920x1080) because it will give you a better depth, contrast and colour. Having a Full HD camcorder is also an advantage where digital zoom will not disrupt your recording as it will still gives you a HD videos up to a certain limit.

Compared to a DSLR, camcorders doesn't have much to offer with accessories. You can get a wide-angle converter or tele-converter for your lens. Some Canon camcorders have a hotshoe where you can put a video light or microphone for better recording resolution. Extra batteries is a must for camcorders and its better to get one that can last longer.

Camcorder can be useful if you feel video suits you better than pictures (like me). Editing software shouldn't be a problem because some of it comes free with the camcorders and theres a lot of it on the internet. You just have to search.

Here are some company that produce great camcorders. Canon, Panasonic, Sony and some more that I couldn't remember.

There you go. A brief explanation about camcorder. Thanks for reading. And for the vlog. Here you go.

Windows Phone 7 is another Apple iPhone?

Salam.

Microsoft announced their Windows Phone 7 on Monday to show the world that they made the next Apple iPhone. Seriously.

Last time, when we want to transfer stuff back and forth our phone, its just copy and paste. But Apple made a revolution back then by introducing iPhone which require you to connect to iTunes to transfer data. Which basically means it will not work like a external memory. But at that time, all other phones doesn't need a specific software to connect their phones to their computer. So data transfers easily.

Now, Microsoft decided that they should join the band wagon. But not with iTunes. But with Zune. Zune works the same as iTunes where you connect your phones to the laptop for transferring data. This means that Windows Phone 7 DOESN'T SUPPORT USB MEMORY LIKE BEFORE!

Different kind of phone? Get your ass working Gates. Microsoft should try to be different than Apple. But in this case, they use the proverb, 'If you can't beat them, join them.'

Damn you Microsoft. I bought your original software and this is what you have done to me?

For those who are looking forward Windows Phone 7, its better if you make some research or look for Android phones. You don't want to get upset by using the phones.

That's all for today. Sorry but I can't make another vlog for today because I'm really tired. Cheers and have fun.

Windows Phone 7

Salam.

Yesterday, Microsoft announced their latest mobile device whice is Windows Phone 7. Basically an upgrade from the old Windows Mobile 6.5. Not just that, they also announce 11 smartphones that is coming out with it. Here are some of it.

HTC HD7
Upgrade from HTC HD2. It still maintains the 4.3" display on the HD2 but with a better S-LCD capacitive screen. Not just that HD video recording is on board too.

HTC 7 Surround
The wierdness started. Usually kickstand will stick out a stick like plastic or metal from the phones but this is just wrong. But somehow its cool. Where the slide out only reveals a SPEAKER and not a usable qwerty keypad.

HTC Mozart
The only 8 megapixel snapper from all the 11 phones coming out. Not just that, Xenon flash is there too. SNAP!

HTC Trophy
Nothing much from this. The cheapest on the line I guess. Because it has nothing to boast.

HTC 7 Pro
QWERTY-fied? This is the only Windows Phone 7 with a proper QWERTY keypad from HTC. The screen is quite large (3.6").

Samsung Omnia 7 i8700
I never have thought that Samsung will get another phone with Super-AMOLED after Samsung Galaxy S. But this beast got it.

Samsung Focus
Another Super-AMOLED phone. The mere difference between this guy and Omnia 7 is the design. I guess.

LG E900 Optimus 7
The best features on this one is the 16GB internal memory. Other than that, more or less similiar to the other.

LG E900 Optimus 7Q
Add a Q to your model and you will get a QWERTY keypad. Is it like that? 4-row QWERTY keypad looks awesome on this one.

LG C600 Quantum
Wow. Another QWERTY! But less RAM? Are you kidding me? Damn.

Dell Venue Pro
This is the abomination of smartphones. Seriously. Nothing more that this one. A full touchscreen with a slide-out QWERTY keypad that LOOKS LIKE BLACKBERRY? Come on Dell. You are killing us! The tech enthusiast!

There you go. Some of the best and the worst Windows Phone 7 line up.

And here's the vlog of the day.

HD Spectacles

Salam.

Do our eyes need HD? High definition? WTF? Its too much of technology dude! Isn't our glasses right now is HD? Well no explanation for that.

So they say that HD glasses makes the colour more vibrant and the contrast is like blablabla. The real reason? They are just using HD for extra money. Another marketing strategy.

From the science aspect, our eyes is more than HD. Even more than Retina Display that Apple has been promoting since iPhone 4. Don't be fooled. Get a normal spectacles is the same. No different than the HD ones. Just the name and maybe the quality is a little better. But believe me, OUR EYES IS MORE THAN HD.

And for the video log of the day.

That's all for today. I hope to finish my draft before tomorrow. Take care and have fun.

iPhone 4 FAIL BIG TIME!

Salam.

Apple iPhone 4. I have spent countless times reseaching about this phones and user experience. And the conclusion? IT FAILED BIG TIME!

The reason?

1. Bluetooth?
It has 1 but can't be used. WTF? Galaxy S got Bluetooth 3.0 and you can transfer anything!

2. File transfer?
You got 16/32 GB of free space but you CAN'T DRAG AND DROP STUFF TO YOUR MOBILE!

3. Connectivity?
You can't get it to become USB Mass storage when connected using USB. The only means of moving all those files is iTunes. What? You can't even transfer files from another phone!

4. GPS?
You are struggling with Google Maps with no GPS. What the heck are you trying to achieve?

5. User-friendly?
Fail too much I don't want to talk about it.

I agree its smooth, fluid, not stuck. But Samsung Galaxy S is way better for user experience.

Wait for my next video log.

Next Apple iPhone?

Salam.

Rumours going through that iPhone is going to have its predecessor in a few years due to the upgrade of telecommunications to 4G. Previously, iPhone 3G becomes 3GS and next will be iPhone 4's turn to become 4G. Is it going to be named 4G? I don't know. But expect something from the technology world as they will only improve little by little to get people buying their stuff off their store. Let's just hope there will be vast improvement on the iPhone 4. Even though I don't think so.

By the way, I'm getting an iPhone 4 with my next allowance. Stay tuned for unboxing and review videos from me. Credit to my love, Ika for the picture.

Here's video log for the day.

That's all for now. Have fun.

Gadget Budget - Mobile phones

Salam.

This time I will explain which phone is suitable for you according on your budget regardless whether you are retarded, left-handed or stupid. Haha! I'm just saying.

Super cheap (£0-£30)
Oh man. You are so cheap, even used phones looks good on you. Nevertheless, phones have no meaning for you other than texting and taking calls. Seriously, you are very with your phones until you can throw it at some gangster and he dies. OMG! But seriously, with this budget,  you can get quite a decent phone. You can at least get a used touch screen phone. Example: Nokia C2-00, Samsung E2120, Sony Ericsson K330, LG KP105.

Cheap (£31-£70)
Really. You will not get a smartphone with this. But maybe if you are lucky enough, eBay will sell you one of the smartphones for really cheap price. But it will comes as faulty or used-for-a-long-time. Every spec will be pretty basic but with some extras such as 2 megapixel camera, 3G and memory card slot. Music wounds nice on these phones. Example: Nokia C5, Samsung S3650 Corby, LG KP500 Cookie, Sony Ericsson J150 Naite.

Just happen to have money (£71-£170)
Yeah. I happen to get some money by working my ass off eBay. At this level, your phones looks good on your. Style is not all you get. Spec such as 3 megapixel camera, Wifi and built-in memory, does fit your phones. The screen looks great and the performance is way better than cheap phones. But it is still not smartphones. Example: Nokia X3, Sony Ericsson W595, Samsung B3310, LG KU990 Viewty.

Money is not a problem (£171 and above the sky)

How coffee is made

Salam.

Coffee. A word too familiar but we know nothing about it. Where does it came from? Ground? Durian? Old mine? Never imagined anything like that right? Here's the fact.

Coffee originates from the Ethiopia and it spreads to the Muslim world. From the Muslim world, coffee was spreading like wildfires throughout the centuries. Europe, Americas, Africa and Asia have tasted this delicious drink and it become popular in the society. How popular? How about Starbucks? Costa? There's a lot of coffee-based restaurant and I'm here just to name a few. So popular, the seventh legal trade in the world is coffee. Even technology can't fight that.

Process of making coffee

Picking - The ripe coffee berry is pluck by hand. Don't ask me why but even in this hi-tech era, coffee berries are still plucked by hands. No technology to that for sure. But there are machines used in Brazil for coffee plucking as the land is flat and easy for machines to get through.  If you ask me how do you know when to pluck the berries, here's a tip. The ripe one sunk in the water and the bad or unripe, stays afloat.

Processing - The pulp must be ripped way from the berry as it is not going to be processed. Its either done by hand or machine. Usually machine. After the removal of pulp, the beans will be washed and dried until its left with 10% of water for the next step. Another way for doing this step is a traditional way which is doing everything by hand without using water. The traditional way is being done practically at 95% of countries producing coffee as they mention 'it maintains the flavour'. I have nothing to say.

Milling - This means removing the last layer of dry skin on the coffee beans before it will be turn to dust. Seriously, most machine will do this to distinguish between good coffee beans and other stuff (rock, etc) or bad beans. After that, they will be classified according to their colour or size or whatever the manufacturer wants them to be.

Roasting - Actually, at this stage, coffee is basically done. But there are several types of coffee based on the level of heating. The dark one is usually roasted for a long time thus having more flavour in them. If you roast them for a little while, you will get green coffee. After they get roasted, they will be grind to powder. And it goes into your cup.

That's a little info on how coffee was made. Actually, they have like a long list of good-for-nothing to read but I make it simple enough for you to understand better. After this, when you drink coffee, you will realise the hardship behind the making of coffee.

Thanks for reading this post. Hope this will help you in your life. If there's any mistake, it comes only from me and nobody else and I apologize for that. Take care and have fun.
